As Kelly Jay from the Canadian 70’s band Crowbar once said, “You can’t live in the past, but you can’t forget old friends.”
That seems to be the philosophy behind the recent music recorded by Firefall. While they are about to record their first new album/EP of original music in five years, they have just released Friends and Family 2 on Sunset Boulevard Records.
Like its predecessor, the second Friends & Family album pays tribute to some of the groups that Firefall toured with in the past. Friends & Family 2 features Firefall’s takes on hits by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, the Beach Boys, and Kenny Loggins, with special guests including country star Wynonna Judd, Buffalo Springfield co-founder Richie Furay, and former Elton John/Hall & Oates bassist Kenny Passarelli.
Here is the track listing for Friends & Family 2:
- Love The One You’re With (Stephen Stills)
- Go Your Own Way (Fleetwood Mac)
- Mr. Soul (Buffalo Springfield)
- Longer (Dan Fogelberg)
- Shakin’ (Eddie Money)
- I’m Alright (Kenny Loggins)
- I Need You (America)
- So You Want To Be A Rock ‘N’ Roll Star (The Byrds)
- Let Me Love You Tonight (Pure Prairie League)
- Sail On Sailor (The Beach Boys)
- Christine’s Tune (Flying Burrito Brothers)
- Cool Change (Little River Band)
I had the privilege of having Jock Bartley on the show recently. We talked about the new album and how these songs were selected. Jock also shares why he still loves touring and recording with Firefall.
