Dave Smith’s began his radio career in Simcoe – his first gig was working as the morning personality at CFRS. After some time at CKBB in Barrie, Dave moved to Hamilton and CKOC career in 1972 working evenings. Over the next 30 (or so) years, he many positions at CKOC, including both morning and afternoon drive.
Dave was also part of the CKOC music department. We discuss how much time and energy went into researching the weekly All Hit 40 and yearly Big 500 Countdown. Those countdowns were a labour of love.
In my conversation with Dave, which took place back in 2019, he talks about his early days in radio and coming to Hamilton in 1972. Dave loved working at CKOC and considers himself lucky to be part of a great team on Garfield.
In this podcast, he remembers, as we all do, the glory days when CKOC ruled Hamilton radio.
Enjoy!
