A Conversation with Earl Johnson of Moxy

A person with “moxy” has guts, grit, determination, and backbone.

Certainly describes my guest for this podcast. I recently had a chat with Hamilton’s own Earl Johnson about the upcoming Moxy show at the Corktown.

The band is legendary. Martin Melhuish, in his classic book on Canadian music history “Heart of Gold,” referred to Moxy as “one of the best heavy metal acts to develop in this country, a band born and bred on the Toronto bar circuit.”

Earl shared stories about growing up in the Hammer, his love of soul/R&B music, and the enduring popularity of Moxy in 2024.

And, we discovered that back in the day, we lived down the street from each other in the Rosedale area of Hamilton.

Small world indeed.

Hope you enjoy!
